Crimes Nearby: Man Charged with Breaking into, Robbing from Smithtown Homes

Suffolk County police reported the following arrests:

Kings Park

A Smithtown woman filled out a prescription and forged a doctor's signature at a local drug store, according to police.
Suffolk County police said Yvonne Munoz 38, of Smithtown, was charged with second degree forgery when she presented a fake prescription and singed it with a doctor’s name at the CVS pharmacy in Kings Park last Wednesday.
Police also charged Munoz with third degree grand larceny for an unrelated incident. Police said Munoz took cash payments from an office on Terry Road in Smithtown and replaced them with fake credit card receipts between June of 2009 and May of 2012.
Munoz was arraigned on Sept. 4 at Suffolk First District Court and released on $30,000 bond.

Smithtown

Robert Hofbauer, 26, of Ronkonkoma, was arrested on Aug. 29 in Smithtown on multiple counts of second-degree burglary from a dwelling, third-degree robbery, and fourth-degree grand larceny charges.
According to police, Hofbauer unlawfully entered a home on Aug. 26 between noon - 6 p.m. and stole a woman's pocketbook with credit cards and cash. Reports state Hofbauer also entered a home unlawfully on Aug. 27 between 2 p.m. -6 p.m. by prying open a door and stealing money and jewelry. Reports continue to state that Hofbauer stole on Aug. 28 a Craftsman 22-inch lawnmower, a backpack blower, a lawn trimmer and a portable air compressor from a home. On Aug. 26 between 10-11 p.m., police said Hofbauer entered a home and took change. Police also said Hofbauer cut a screen on the bedroom window and entered the home took 2004 Nissan Altima and a wallet on Aug. 19 between 7 a.m. -11 a.m. Reports continue to state that Hofbauer entered a home through a kitchen window and took an X-Box, a camera, an iPod and other assorted items between Aug. 23 at 12 p.m. and Aug. 25 at 12 p.m. 

Three Village

Heather Dunscomb, 29, of Stony Brook, was arrested Aug. 26 in Port Jefferson Station and charged with leaving the scene of an accident. According to police, Dunscomb struck another vehicle at 9 p.m. on Aug. 25 and left the scene of the accident.

Thomas Boyle, 36, of Stony Brook, was arrested Aug. 31 and charged with reckless driving and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Reports state police tried to pull him over while on Third Street in East Northport at 2:30 a.m. on Aug. 31 but he fled the scene on foot. He was arrested at his home at 8:55 p.m. that same day.

Police are investigating an incident of grand larceny reported Aug. 29 in which a male employee at the in Stony Brook reported a briefcase that was stolen from an office between 4:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. According to police, the briefcase contained an iPad, keys, and a school district ID card.

Miller Place-Rocky Point

Shera Dougherty, 25, of Bayport, was arrested Sept. 1 in Shoreham and charged with seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Dougherty was allegedly found with a hypodermic needle containing heroin on Cobblestone Drive in Shoreham.

David Paulraj, 50, of Holbrook, was arrested Aug. 30 in Rocky Point and charged with first-offense DWI and third-degree grand larceny. He was arrested at 1:05 a.m. on Route 25A in Rocky Point while driving a 1995 Chevy pick-up that had been reported stolen. He failed to maintain his lane of traffic, was given a sobriety test and it was determined that he had been driving while intoxicated, police said.
