Man Who Faked Death Arrested Again

The man who faked his own death at Jones Beach last summer found himself back in jail – this time held without bail – just one day after taking a plea deal.

Raymond Roth, 48, of Long Beach, was arrested Wednesday, accused of impersonating a police officer and trying to lure a woman into a white minivan on March 21, Nassau County Police said.

Roth made national headlines when he was reported missing off Jones Beach by his son only to later turn up at his condo in Florida. He received a speeding ticket on the drive south after his supposed disappearance.

Drug and Theft Charges

Police arrested a Coram woman on multiple charges after being found in possession of stolen property and drugs.

According to police, Gwendolyn Hardy, 29, of Coram, was arrested on March 30 in at Walmart in Commack on three charges of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor; and one charge of fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a misdemeanor.

Police said Hardy was in possession of stolen property while in a 2013 Ford Explorer as well as heroin, cocaine, marijuana and prescription medication.

Alleged Burglary at Smithtown Sanitation Building

Suffolk County police say an unknown person broke into the Smithtown Sanitation building in Kings Park on March 23 and took used car batteries from the property.

According to police, a Smithtown Park Ranger called in the incident, stating that the alleged perpetrator cut a chain-link fence to get into the property, located at 85 Northport Road.

Once inside, the suspect was said to have removed several used car batteries from the site.

No arrests have been made.
