Crimes Nearby: Teens Caught Playing Chicken on Middle Country Road

Smithtown
  • Michael Urbancik, 26, of Smithtown was arrested July 24 on charges of second-degree strangulation, a felony, and criminal obstruction of breathing on Coe Court. Urbancik grabbed another person by the throat and held his hand over their nose until the person lost consciousness.

Hauppauge

911 Caller Reports Teens Playing Chicken on Middle Country Road

Suffolk County police said a group of teens were caught playing an extremely dangerous game to beat summer boredom on Sunday night.

Suffolk Deputy Inspector Thaddeus Nieves said a 911 caller reported teenagers playing chicken on Middle Country Road/Route 25, near the intersection of Parsnip Pond Road in Lake Grove, at roughly 10:30 p.m.

"They were laying on the street, jumping up and running out of the way of oncoming motorists," Nieves said.

Three Village

• The owner of an East Setauket-based tree service reported July 23 that two credit cards were stolen from two different trucks that were unlocked and parked in a gated yard on West Meadow Road at around noon. The credit cards were used at a gas station and Walmart.

•The owner of an auto repair station on Comsewogue Road reported that a GMC vehicle was stolen from the property sometime between 4:45 p.m. on July 22 and 12:40 p.m. on July 23.

• The owner of a home on Scotts Cove in Poquott reported July 21 someone stole jewelry and sports memorabilia sometime between 11 a.m. on July 13 and 10:30 p.m. on July 21. The thief reportedly entered the home by taking out an air conditioner and climbing through the window.
