Driver Cited for Commack Road Truck Accident

The overturned truck spilled debris, closing a portion of the road for several hours Tuesday.

The driver of a tractor-trailer that overturned Tuesday morning, dumping debris and closing a portion of Commack Road, has been cited for faulty brakes and carrying overweight cargo, police said.

The truck was heading south on Commack Road at about 6:30 a.m. when the driver, whose name is not being released, made a left turn ontro Henry Street, causing the truck to turn over on its side, according to Suffolk County police.

The driver was not injured.

Police said the truck was transporting construction debris that was planned for disposal. The entire contents of the rig spilled out onto the street. That portion of Comack Road was closed for several hours Tuesday as the spill was cleaned up.
