Driver Crashes into Woods on Commack Road

The driver was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

A male driver crashed his vehicle into a wooded area while exiting the Northern State Parkway at Commack Road Saturday at approximately 8:45 p.m.

A team of 25 firefighters from the Dix Hills Fire Department, led by Chief Tom Magno and Assistant Chiefs Tom Napolitano and Alan Berkowitz, responded to the crash, near Vanderbilt Parkway, using chainsaws to cut trees in order to access to the car. They then, pried open a door with the "jaws of life" extrication tools.

The driver suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Huntington Hospital by the Dix Hills Rescue Squad.
