Driver Falls Asleep at Wheel, Crashes into Tree

Driver sent to hospital after accident on Daly Road Friday morning.

A man was taken to the hospital with minor injuries on Friday morning after he lost control of his car on Daly Road in Dix Hills.

The man was driving a Toyota SUV down Daly Road at Phyllis Drive around 10:40 a.m. when he fell asleep at the wheel and veered off the road, according to officials at the scene. He then knocked down a street sign and ripped up a fence before bouncing off a tree.

I don't find that comment that idiotic. When I'm too tired to drive, I stay home or where I am. You can't say that people don't know that they're not too tired to drive. THAT would be one of the most idiotic comments on this website.

Actually, you don't know that he was "too tired to,drive" when he left his home. There are a number of neurologic conditions which could cause such a problem, and even simple sleep deprivation is not always evident at all times. A bit of charity, absent the lack of objective information, seems appropriate.

Whoever made this remark, is bordering on moronic, sheer stupidity, and lack of sensitivity. This is no time for jokes.
