Fatal Accident in Commack

A Lake Grove man was killed Thursday night when he was ejected from his motorcycle at approximately 11:30 p.m.

Richard Anzalone, 21, was driving his 2008 Suzuki motorcycle in a southbound lane on Indian Head Road when he apparently hit a curb and was thrown into the parking lot of Christ the King Church.

Although no conclusive determinations have been made, the Suffolk County Police Department has indicated they believe Anzalone was traveling at a high rate of speed when  he lost control of his motorcycle. Following the accident, a police helicopter transported Anzalone to Stony Brook medical center, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Suffolk County detectives are investigating, but as of now have not released a definitive statement on what caused the accident.

The motorcycle remains in police custody while authorities investigate it for any potential safety issues.
