Fire Breaks Out in Commack Home

Cause of the fire on Chatham Road has not yet been determined.

A fire broke out in a home on Chatham Road in Commack Tuesday evening.

Five departments were called in at approximately 5:30 p.m. to fight the blaze, which began on the second floor of the home, fire officials said.

Firefighters from the Commack Fire Department, as well as the Kings Park, East Northport, Greenlawn and Smithtown departments battled the fire in below-freezing temperatures.

No injuries were reported.

As of 6:30 p.m. the fire was mostly out, but had not yet been declared under control by officials.

A neighbor at the scene who declined to give her name said there was nobody home at the time the fire broke out. "We could see smoke coming out near the roof," she said.
