Police: 4 Businesses Busted for Selling Alcohol to a Minor

Police say three businesses in Commack, one in Smithtown sold alcohol to an individual under 21 years of age.

Three businesses in Commack and one in Smithtown were found to be in voilation of state liquor law after Suffolk County Police Department conducted a sting on Friday.

According to police, employees at Hess Express in Commack, , and a in Commack and Smithtown all sold alcohol to a minor after they failed to properly inspect identification of the agent purchasing alcohol.

Police said employees at , on Jehrico Turnpike, and , on Veterans' Highway, both refused to sell.

The stores were chosen partly in response to community concern, and partly in random, police said.

The following individuals were arrested and charged with unlawfully dealing with a child in the first degree: Matthew Burger, 20; Brian Farrell, 21; Mary Marvin, 36; and Jatinder Kumar, 34. They were all given a field appearance ticket to appear at First District Court in Central Islip.
