Letter: Mary Francis Ryan, Commack Fire Commissioner Candidate

To all my friends and neighbors in the Commack Fire District,

Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Mary Francis Ryan. I am running for the position of Fire Commissioner in Commack.

I have lived in Commack for the past 18 years where I reside with my husband and 2 children. My husband is a 20 year+ member of the Commack Fire Department, my 2 children attend Commack schools and our family belongs to Christ the King Church. I work full time as a Registered Nurse in a leadership position at Huntington Hospital.

I was born and raised in a volunteer fire department environment. My father was a member, past president, and past commissioner of the Centerport Fire Department. I joined the Centerport Fire Department when I was 14 years old as a junior fire fighter. I then became an active member of the Centerport Fire Department in 1985. I was assigned to the Hook and Ladder Company where I remained for 16 years. I was active in the Rescue Squad as well, and served as a NYS EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) for over 15 years. I have held the offices of Lieutenant, Captain, and in 1995 was elected into the Board of Directors. After serving as 2nd and 1st Vice Presidents, I became the President of the Corporation in 1999. In 2000, I turned my attention to raising my family.

I am now ready to service this community, which I call home, as a Commissioner of the Commack Fire District.

On December 13, there will be a public election at the Commack Fire Headquarters from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. This location is at 6309 Jericho Turnpike (just west of Townline Rd and Commack Rd).

I ask that you please make an effort and come out and vote for me. I am well qualified and have no agenda. I have the leadership abilities and training to represent our community. I am honest and trustworthy, and will fill this position with spirit and enthusiasm.
