Early Morning Power Outage Caused by Downed Lines

Two primary wires were downed early Friday morning, causing over 2,000 customers to lose power.

Power has been restored to all 2,144 customers, according to Mark Gross, director of communications at the Long Island Power Authority.

"At about 5:30 a.m. this morning, service was interrupted to 2,144 customers due to primary wires down on Atlantic Street and on Stoothoff Road. Service was restored to all customers at 6:45 a.m., except for customers on Atlantic Street. Those customers were restored at 7:55 a.m.," Gross said.

By 8:30 a.m., power was restored to most customers, according to LIPA's website, with less than five customers without power. Those customers should have power back by 10:00 a.m. according to the website.
