Man Charged with 4 Bank Robberies, Including Commack Branch

A West Babylon man who committed four bank robberies in Suffolk County during the summer of 2010—including one in which he strapped a simulated bomb to his chest—was arrested on March 16, police said.

William Loughlin, 59, who police previously arrested in September 2010 for a bank robbery in Nassau County, robbed the same Chase Bank in West Babylon twice, once on July 26 and again on August 31, police said. He also robbed an HSBC bank in Huntington Station and the on August 10.

Police say Loughlin was charged with first degree robbery for the West Babylon and Huntington Station incidents, and third degree robbery for the Commack robbery.

Loughlin was arraigned Wednesday at First District Court in Central Islip and will return to the Nassau County Correctional Facility in East Meadow, where he served time for his September arrest.
