Man Charged with DWI in Sunken Meadow Crash

Driver flipped his car near the Jericho Turnpike exit, according to police.

A Bay Shore man was arrested and charged with drunken driving after flipping his vehicle on the Sunken Meadow State Parkway in Commack Wednesday evening, New York State Police said.

Robert L. Beckett, 46, was driving his Ford Expedition southbound on the parkway at about 5:30 p.m. when he lost control of the vehicle, causing it to roll over near the Jericho Turnpike exit, police said.

Troopers who responded to the scene found Beckett to be under the influence of alcohol. According to police, he had a blood alcohol content of .23—nearly 3 times the legal limit.

Beckett was arrested and charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated and several traffic violations, police said.
