After , a 24-year-old Danvers man reportedly told neighbors Saturday morning that “aliens” killed his father. He also allegedly told neighbors that aliens in the woods were killing people and that the neighbors needed to save his cats, according to neighbors who spoke to Danvers Patch.
The Danvers man, who the , reportedly killed his father, 60-year-old John Anastasi at 2 Auburn St. sometime before 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
Neighbors said that at 10:30 a.m. the suspect went to a nearby Colby Road residence with his cat and knocked on the door. When no one initially answered, he reportedly put his cat on the lawn. When the homeowner asked him about why he put the cat on her property, the suspect reportedly said, “Because of the aliens, they’re in the woods killing people. We need to save the cats,” according to neighbors.
Moments later, neighbors went to the Auburn Street home with the suspect. They knocked on the door, but the suspect reportedly said, “He’s not gonna answer – he’s dead. They killed him,” said witnesses.
At that point, the neighbors entered the home and found the father dead on the floor and covered with blankets. While one neighbor distracted the suspect, another neighbor called 911, said neighbors.
arrived moments later and apprehended the suspect. He was taken away in a cruiser.
Neighbors described the suspect as “troubled” and that there was “constant fighting” at the house. Neighbor John Gotts said the suspect has been in constant trouble with the Danvers Police.
