No Injuries in Hazmat Scare

Fridge caused toxic fumes to spread in Commack home, according to Commack Fire Department.

A Commack resident accidentally released toxic fumes into the air of their home as they were dismantling an old refrigerator Tuesday morning, the Commack Fire Department said.

The homeowner reportedly nicked the freon line of the fridge, sending the toxic chemical throughout the basement of the Cowie Road home.

Members of the were called to the home and stopped the leak. The fridge was removed from the home and the house was ventilated, the department said.
