Police: Commack Bus Driver Killed While Walking to Work
Wayne Wickard, was fatally injured while crossing Veterans Memorial Highway in Ronkonkoma.

A Commack bus driver was hit and killed while walking to work in Ronkonkoma Monday morning.
Suffolk County Fifth Squad detectives said that Commack resident Wayne Wickard, 69, was crossing Veterans Memorial Highway when he was struck by a westbound 1998 Dodge Neon at the intersection of 5th Avenue at approximately 6:05 a.m.

Wickard, a driver for Baumann & Sons Bus Company who worked within the Commack School District, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.
The driver of the Neon, Annette Agliato, 53, of Bohemia, was not injured, police said. The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing.
