Police: Drunk Driver Hits Parked Car

Commack residents reported to Patch that an allegedly drunk driver left behind a trail of damage on Tuesday night.

Commack residents are accusing an allegedly drunk driver of leaving behind a trail of damage on Somers Lane.

Suffolk County police said Rachel Dreher, 35, of East Northport, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated on Tuesday night.

Police said they received a phone call at approximately 11:30 p.m. Tuesday reporting a drunk driver had crashed into a parked Jeep on Somers Lane in Commack. Dreher was driving a 2006 Acura along Somers Lane when she hit the parked vehicle before crashing into a tree on the opposite side of the roadway.

Dreher was arrested at the scene with only minor injuries, according to police.

There was significant damage done to the parked Jeep.

Question here. If the Jeep was parked where did the tire go, and why did the rim leave marks on the pavement as if it were driven to the place that it is stopped?

Good questions. We can not answer those questions from this photo alone. For example, we do not see the other vehicle and the surrounding area etc. There are many other questions that would have to be answered based on the article. Also, the fact it occurred at 11:30 pm on a weeknight makes it far less likely there were witnesses to the incident.

It just seems odd. I thought perhaps the drunk driver was driving this car and there is a typo in the report.

That black car was parked on Somers-no typo... The drivers of the car was near the tree she hit & knocked it completely down.. The loud sound of a crash rocked the neighbors out of their beds or chairs. If that tree wasnt there she would have gone though a livingroom..
