Police: Motorcyclist Seriously Injured by Drug-Impaired Driver

A motorcyclist was rear-ended and critically hurt in a crash Monday morning in Commack.

A motorcyclist was seriously injured on the eastbound side of the Long Island Expressway in Commack Monday when she was rear-ended by a drug-impaired driver, Suffolk County police said.

According to police, the crash occurred at 12:10 a.m. when D.A. Magalhaes-Lemos, 22, of Farmingville, who was driving a 2002 Mitsubishi sports utlity vehicle, rear-ended motorcyclist Jinah Kim, 37, of Blue Point. Police said she was ejected from her bike and suffered critical injuries.

Kim was sent to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, where is listed in serious condition.

The accident forced the closure of the eastbound lanes between Exits 53 and 55 until 6:22 a.m.
