Police Say Woman Used Fake ID to Cash in Fraudulent Check

Police are asking the public to submit tips to officials to locate the woman.

Police are asking the public’s help to locate a woman, who they say attempted to cash a fraudulent check for $3,500 using fake identification at Citibank on Larkfield Road last month.  

According to Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Second Squad detectives, the woman entered Citibank on, located at 710 Larkfield Road in Elwood on April 19 at approximately 5 p.m., and handed the teller a fraudulent check for $3,500 and a fake Maryland driver’s license.  

When the teller questioned the woman about the license and check, the woman exited the bank and fled the parking lot in a dark-colored, full size SUV. The woman was described as black, between 30 and 40 years old and heavy set. Similar incidents have been reported at other Citibank locations in Suffolk County, police said. 

The woman left the fake driver’s license at the bank. The photo below was taken from the driver’s license and matches the suspect.  

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-220-TIPS.  All calls will be kept confidential.
