Police: Woman's Purse Stolen at Uncle Giuseppe's

The purse was stolen from the victim's shopping cart and the thief fled by car on Route 111, police say.

Suffolk County Police are looking for an unknown man who stole a purse from an Uncle Giuseppe's customer while shopping Friday.

According to police, a man stole a woman customer's pocketbook from her shopping cart while she was shopping at the Route 111 location at roughly 4:35 p.m. Police said the man then fled the supermarket and travelled southbound on Route 111.

The car the man was driving is described as an older black four-door sedan with loud exhaust as if the car had no muffler.

A police investigation is underway.

This is not the first time this has happened in Uncle Gs in Smithtown. It has happened a number of times in the past year. Uncle Gs is a fairly new store and Im sure like the other Supermarkets , Waldbaums and Stop & Shop-Rite etc. have the latest in Digital Security Cameras. I have seen them work on employees stealing and they are super clear. Matter a fact, Mr Jansen that owns Shop rite in Hauppauge and Patchogue, watches the stores from his house. When an employee rebuffs his finding, he pulls out his ipad and zooms in on that employees face and the act of theft. There is no question!! His stores are said to have almost 50 cameras. So with this technology , Uncle Gs dont have this low life stealing a pocketbook and then with there outside cameras photographing the getaway are and license plate....Shame on You Uncle gs

I always put the child safety strap through my pocketbook straps and snap it.
