Lightning Strike Sparks House Fire

A house on Schulyer drive burst into flames after being struck by lightning, according to early reports.

A lightning strike from passing storms set a Commack house up in flames on Friday morning.

Commack Fire Department responded to reports of an attic fire at 69 Schulyer Drive at approximately 6:30 a.m Friday. Patrick Fazio, a Commack Fire District commissioner, said the fire appeared to have been started when lightning from passing storms struck the house's roof.

The residential home sustained damage to its roof, which was covered by blue and orange tarps on Friday afternoon.
