Commack Students Send Holiday Cheer to Soldiers

First graders at Indian Hollow decorated holiday cards for troops overseas.

First graders at Indian Hollow Primary School sent special holiday greetings to soldiers stationed abroad this year.

Students in Mary Fox and Jeanne Waldman’s classes decorated cards with messages of warm wishes and thanks that will be shipped to U.S. Troops away from their families and loved ones during the holidays.

The kids participated in a project called "Holiday Mail for Heroes," sponsored by the American Red Cross and Pitney Bowes, which aims to "send a touch of home this holiday season" to U.S. Military members and veterans.

The students got the chance to experience the joy of giving back first hand. "It feels good to make someone happy!" said one student.
