Trucks Crashes Into LIE Median, Lane Closures Back Up Traffic

A tractor trailer carrying concrete dividers crashed into the Long Island Expressway median near Exit 52 causing heavy delays.

A tractor trailer truck carrying concrete dividers crashed into the median of the Long Island Expressway Wednesday afternoon.

Newsday reports the westbound truck collided with the concrete median on the LIE near Exit 52/Commack Road, according to a spokeswoman from New York Department of Transportation. 

At the time of the accident, all westbound lanes were blocked in addition to two eastbound lanes of traffic as concrete dividers were laying in the roadway.

Traffic cameras show as of 2 p.m. that Suffolk County Police continue to block off the HOV lanes and left lanes in both directions as cleanup continues.
