Victim Struck by Amtrak Train Has Been Identified

Donna Zoldan of Highland Park was killed yesterday on the Amtrak tracks in Edison, Amtrak officials said.

The woman who stepped out in front of an Amtrak train yesterday near Metropark has been identified.

Donna Zoldan, 49, of Highland Park was killed October 10 when she was struck by the speeding train at approximately 12:12 p.m. on the tracks near Talmadge Road and Route 27 in Edison, according to Amtrak officials. The area is about 4-1/2 miles south of the Metropark station in the Iselin section of Woodbridge.

The Amtrak train which struck Zoltan was travelling south from New York to Washington, DC, said Steve Kulm, Amtrak spokesman.

There were no injuries to the 220 passengers on board the train or to the crew, Kulm said.

"We transferred the passengers to another train," he added.

The fatality did not disrupt train traffic as much as it might have. Two tracks of the four-track area were closed for several hours and reopened by 3 p.m.

A number of trains experienced some delay, Kulm said.

Why would you walk on the track unless you were trying to kill yourself or were drunk, high. I feel for the family.

And why do people make INSENSITIVE comments like the one from Cheryl W?! May Donna Zoldan rest in peace and may God bless her family and friends as they suffer through this terrible loss.

Why? Because the country is rail-locked and pedestrian crossings a.k.a. crossings aren't there. Why is Steve Kuln who was a worthless railroad bought hand puppet in the Federal Railroad-bought Association doing as a talkin' head for Amtrak? Would it be because AMTRAK has the worse/best kill rate per mile traveled in the country for ANY business?
