Week in Review: Little League Games, Test Prep and Food

Commack Patch wraps up it's fourth week of coverage by starting two new columns and following the Commack little league teams through the end of July – with a few beat the heat tips thrown in.

As we wrap up our fourth week of coverage (our one month anniversary is Wednesday), we've introduced two new columns, spoken with more dead people and given you a chance to comment on the daily happenings in Commack. We covered the sports games, restaurant openings and closings, and profiled some more Empire State Games' participants. The games are over, but these participants head back to Commack to play locally and beyond, continuing to let their passion for the sports guide them through life.

Monday we started the Test Prep column. Is your son or daughter studying for the SATs? Have them sign up for our daily newsletter to get a dose of SAT prep, every day at noon.

Tuesday, we found out what happened at Red Dish Grille, Sunshine Acres and Gemini Pharmaceuticals. It was a day of discovery for Commack Patch, and we appreciate the questions you pose daily on our Facebook and Twitter profiles.

Wednesday, we went back to Commack cemetery and discovered what the dead had to say about town, and former nationally significant inhabitants. We also learned about the County Audit involving the JCC. And finally, we watched "our boys" head into the state championships – in two divisions!

Thursday, we learned about Cougar Camps at Commack High, we profiled two more Empires' stars and we found out about Maize Cantina.

Friday, we brought you our weekly real estate coverage – with the list of open houses (Did anyone go? Have any stories, tell us in comments). And learned a little about how much prep goes into high school football.

Saturday, we introduced our second new column of the week – Cooking in Commack. We're asking all foodies to submit recipes for their chance to be featured – with a video on our website. Next week, you'll hear from Carrie, a Commack mom and chef. We also showed you the food trends in the neighborhood and tried to help you beat the heat.

And finally today, we bring you the week in review, crime report and a sports update later on today. Don't forget about the Hoyt Farm concert tonight, if you're looking for a way to round out your weekend.
