Election Signs: Time to Take Them Down

Share your thoughts in our Soapbox - Gov't Matters open blog.

Many people have been upset about the number of campaign signs that have remained up after elections conclude, stating that it is the equivalent of litter.

Now that Election Day is over, what do you think is a reasonable time frame for all the political campaign camps to start cleaning up those yard and pole signs used in the campaign? One week? 48 hours?

We asked Patch readers to chime in the question and here's a few of the responses:

Christine Gilbride Wilson: Today! Get all your volunteers out there and clean up the neighborhoods.

Gary J. Weiner: 48 hours tops

Joe Marinello: 1 day. They look trashy.

Raymond Sivon: 24 hours and then start fines to the responsible political party.

Kathy Stadler Vincent Panicola: Immediately, A.S.A.P., Now!!!! But I'm sure we'll see them still out there months from now.

Dan Taylor Sr.: They went up immediately, should come down in the same time frame

Diane Schaber: now, today..........when you hang a garage sale sign, you are supposed to remove it right after you close your sale......think same rules should apply here

Michael Melz: 48 hours would be nice but one week is realistic.

Edward B Woody Ryder IV: By Friday of the same week as the Tuesday on which the election was held.

We want to know what you think is a good time frame to get the signs taken down. Click here to access our Soapbox - Gov't Matters blog or tell us in the comments section below.
