Hearing Planned for Commack Truck Inspection Site

A public hearing on the proposed inspection site between Commack and Crooked Hill Roads is scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday.

The Suffolk County Legislature has planned a public hearing to consider a new truck inspection site in Commack, according to a report from Newsday.com.

The site would be built on a 30,000-square-foot land parcel between Commack and Crooked Hill Roads through a lease agreement between the county and the Town of Smithtown.

According to newsday, a business park owner donated the land to town officials in June, following complaints from store owners alleging that Suffolk police were harming their business by using their parking lots to conduct truck inspections.
