Town Tightens Boating Speeds
Boaters will face tighter speed limits and more patrols in town waters on July 4.
 The Town of Huntington announced Friday that the restrictions were meant to  improve safety around the fireworks show in Asharoken.

Northport Gets Grant to Clean Up Waterways
Legis. William Spencer, D-Centerport, recently presented Northport with a
 $1.5 million check to supplement an upgrade to its sewer treatment 
plant that would help clean up area waterways. The EPA mandated 
the $9 million upgrade as part of an intitiative to reduce nitrogren
emissions by 2014 in order to mitigate toxic algal blooms such as red 
tide. Northport has since scrambled to find funding and avoid burdening 
taxpayers with a sharp tax increase to pay for the plant upgrades, which nearly equals the small village's annual budget. 

Ribbon Cuttings at 2 Businesses
Councilwoman Susan A. Berland cut two red  ribbons alongside Huntington merchants and the Chamber of Commerce last week.

Katz Plastic Surgery, located at 224 Wall Street, was founded by Dr. 
Steven Katz, a board certified cosmetic and reconstructive plastic 
surgeon who specializes in breast augmentation and abdominal 
recontouring.

BlonDee's Bistro & Bar, located at 26 Clinton Avenue, is the new 
name of   "Two Blondes and a Stove." The restaurant features both indoor
 and outdoor dining. 

Troop Donates to Hospital Pediatric Unit
Members of the Elwood Junior Troop #331 assembled and delivered 60 activity 
pouches and special get well cards to Huntington Hospital’sPediatric Unit this week. The pouches were filled with items designed to lift spirits and ease the anxiety children often feel when visiting a hospital.  
                    
Vendor Bids Open
The town has listed several bids and requests for proposals, among them, one for the operation of the suntan lotion vending machine at Crab Meadow Beach.
