New Commack Trucking Station to be Named After Fallen Officer

Motor Carrier inspection site will honor SCPD Officer Glen Ciano.

A new truck inspection site at Crooked Hill Road in Commack will be named after Suffolk County Police Officer Glen Ciano, who was killed by a drunken driver while in the line of duty in February 2009.

Suffolk County Legis. Johm M. Kennedy Jr. will hold a dedication ceremony at the Motor Carrier Inspection station, located across from the Kohl's shopping center on Aug 27, along with Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone and family members of Officer Glen Ciano.

The Motor Carrier Inspection Station is part of an initiative to alleviate heavy traffic on Commack Road through planned efforts by the town and county to lower the volume of truck traffic and raising the quality of life of the residents.
