Town Demands Inn Owners Clean Up Property

The Smithtown planning board has ordered the owners of a Commack hotel to clean up debris from the property before a zoning change will be approved, according to a Newsday report.

Owners of the , located at 1126 Jericho Tpke., requested a as part of a plan to expand and renovate the property, which would become the All Seasons Motor Lodge.

The hotel, which sits on 6.5 acres, is split between residential and wholesale zoning. The owners are looking to change the residential zoning. The renovation is halted until the change is permitted by the board.

According to Newsday, the town cited the owners for allegedly building two rooms without obtaining a certificate of occupancy. All Seasons Motor Lodge, Inc. reportedly pleaded not guilty in June and are due in court in Hauppauge on Jan. 10.

In addition, residents and planning officials said the debris-strewn property has become a blight on the neighborhood.

Neighbors of the inn complained of excessive noise, garbage, and debris at a planning board meeting in May.

At last month's meeting, planning board chairman John Gee demanded the site be clean up. "The site has been sorely neglected," he said. "Something needs to be done with that property."
