Smithtown Town officials will be voting on whether to accept a new zoning map for the town and adopt new traffic regulations Tuesday afternoon.
Smithtown Town Board will hold its first May meeting at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Town Hall on West Main Street. There will be two public hearings with the opportunity for residents to speak out on any issues or concerns they wish to bring to elected officials' attention.
The town council will hold a public hearing on the Town of Smithtown's new Zoning map, as proposed by Smithtown's Planning Department. The new map attempts to redefine those areas within the town that are residential, commercial, industrial and heavy industrial both in lines with current use and hopes for future expansion. Those interested in alterations can contact the Planning Department for an updated map.
In addition to zoning changes, elected officials are being asked to approve no parking regulations for St. James Avenue, south of McKinley Street to Woodlawn Avenue, on school days from 8 a.m - 2 p.m.
