Board of Ed. to Review Open Meeting Polices

A special school board meeting will be held Wednesday to share a revised version of its protocols.

The Commack Board of Education will hold a special meeting Wednesday to review revised policies concerning its open meeting policies.

The board will meet at the Hubbs Administration Center at 6:30 p.m. for the purpose of entertaining a motion to adjourn into Executive Session to discuss personnel matters relating to particular persons; collective bargaining; pending litigation; and/or to receive advice from the district’s attorney. Following the executive session, the board will hold a special public meeting at 7 p.m.

A. The administration presents to the Board of Education for a first reading revised Board Policy #1121 – Public Participation at Board Meetings.

B. The administration presents to the Board of Education for a first reading Board Policy #9340 – Notice of Meetings.

C.     The administration presents to the Board of Education for a first reading revised Board Policy #9341.9 – Minutes.

D.    The administration presents to the Board of Education for a first reading revised Board Policy# 9361.2 – Special Meetings.

E.     The administration presents to the Board of Education for a first reading revised Board Policy #9361.11 – Broadcasting and Taping of Board Meetings.

F.      The administration presents to the Board of Education for a first reading revised Board Policy # 9365 – Agenda.

G.    The administration presents to the Board of Education for a first reading revised Board Policy #9367 – Quorum.

III.       Legal

The Board of Education is requested to adopt the following resolution: 

Upon recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, be it  
RESOLVED that the Notice Terminating Month-to-Month Tenancy is hereby approved and the President of the Board is authorized to execute same. This is the first procedural step in the termination of Jewish Academy of Suffolk County, Inc.’s occupancy of the premises.  Thereafter, a summary proceeding for return of possession of the premises to the District and money damages for unpaid rent will be commenced.  Counsel is hereby authorized to pursue return of possession of the premises to the District and the recoupment of arrears in rental payments.  The President of the Board is authorized to execute the Notice Terminating Month-to-Month Tenancy, the Petition to be served on the Jewish Academy and such other documents as may be necessary to prosecute this litigation.
