Choir Programs Cut from After-School Offerings

Four independent creative arts programs were cut from the high school after-school programs for the new school, director of arts said.

High school after-school programs also lost several clubs and programs, including the independent creative arts Men's Ensemble (Caroling Choir), Vocal Jazz Ensemble, Women's Choir and Stage Band, according to the 2010-2011 budget.

Paul R. Infante, director of fine and applied arts, said these programs were lost because of the economy, but students still have five programs in place. Students interested in these programs will audition in Oct. and must audition each year in order to secure a spot, should they desire one.

Infante said auditions are open to students in grades 9 to 12 and added that 12 music students have been selected to attend the New York State School Music Association conference in Rochester from Dec. 2 to 5.
