Commack High School Students Collect Holiday Gifts for Children in Need

Gifts will be sent to children around the world through Samaritan's Purse organization.

Students at Commack High School have gotten a head start on spreading holiday cheer this season, as they began collecting donations to give to children in need during the holidays.

The school's Bible Club and Girls Leaders Corp. collaborated on the project, working to gather gift items including toys, clothing, school and art supplies and candy to donate to Samaritan's Purse, an organization that helps victims of war, poverty, disease and natural disasters around the world since 1970.

The students managed to collect enough items to fill 351 shoeboxes. The boxes will be shipped to children ages 2 to 14 around the world, and students can track their packages as they make their way to their final destination.
