CHS Seniors Sweep Spirit Competition

The seniors dominated the school's last week, snagging the top spot in six of seven categories.

The Class of '11 earned first place in Penny Wars, Homecoming Banners and the Commercial competition. These events are held throughout the school year, and grades compete for first place in each. The points earned by each grade in every competition are then carried over to Spirit Week, which is held each January.

The seniors placed first in the Hallway Decorating competition and Competition Night, which took place during Spirit Week. For the Dress Up competition, students dress up each day of the week according to a different theme, and are awarded points for each theme-related item of clothing they wear. This year, themes included Wild Wild West and Pajamas. The seniors also came out on top, earning first place in the category. 

While the senior class has certainly earned bragging rights this year, the school as a whole earned camaraderie through the competition.

"I really appreciated how the students were able to support and encourage their fellow classmates," said Student Council Advisor Ryan Henry. "The kids really maintained an invitational atmosphere during competition night, and walked the line between rivalry and respect with tact."
