Commack Among Newsweek's Best High Schools

Commack is ranked within the top 1,000 American High Schools by Newsweek.

Commack High School been ranked in Newsweek's America's Best High Schools in 2012.

Ranking the top 1,000 high schools in the nation, Commack came in 267.

Schools are ranked as the ones "that have proven to be the most effective in turning out college-ready grads." Six components provided by school administrators make up the rankings: graduation rate (25 percent), college matriculation rate (25 percent), AP/IB/AICE tests taken per student (25 percent), average SAT/ACT scores (10 percent), average AP/IB/AICE scores (10 percent), and AP courses offered per student(5 percent).

Commack's graduation rate was 98 percent, with 97 percent of graduates being college bound. The AP test score average was 3.5, with and average ACT score of 24.8 and average SAT score came in at 1631.

The neighboring Kings Park School District earned a rank of 652, Smithtown East received a 704 and Smithtown West ranked 329.
