Commack school officials will kick off the start of the school year by honoring students for their achievements and discussing updates to the buildings.
Commack Board of Education will hold a public meeting 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13 at the Hubbs Administrative Center.
Based upon the district's preliminary agenda, school officials plan to recognize a group of Commack High School research students for their accomplishments.
Following the awards, Superintendent Donald James is expected to discuss the start of the 2012-13 school year and the district's steps towards energy efficiency in his administrative report.
In May, voters approved Commack School District's $171 million budget which had a $18 million Energy Performance Project built in for the 2012-13 school year. Johnson Controls will evaluate Commack's current existing technology and install a range of improved energy efficiency units from lighting to new roofs and energy management systems.
