Commack High School Recognized By Prudential Community Awards

Lynn-Idora Edmond volunteers her skills and time to teach children in Haiti.

The 2012 Prudential Spirit of Community Awards has recognized Commack High School Senior Lynn-Idora Edmond, for her vounteer efforts in Haiti.

Edmond founded "Supporting Children Around the World," an organization which provides basic necessities and educational resources to impoverished children.  

She travels frequently to Haiti with her parents, who are Haitian immigrants. While there, edmond volunteers her time to teach English, job skills, and environmental awareness.

Edmond has also qualified for the President’s Volunteer Service Award, which recognizes Americans of all ages who have volunteered significant amounts of their time to serve their communities.

She was presented with a bronze Distinguished Finalist medallion to commemorate the award.
