Commack Middle School Students Win Regional Science Bowl

Team took top spot in competition at Brookhaven National Lab.

Students from Commack Middle School placed first in the Regional Science Bowl at Brookhaven National Laboratory on March 3.

The team narrowly defeated R.C. Murphy Junior High School during tense final round of the academic tournament, which tests participants' knowledge of mathematics and science. Students from 11 Long Island middle schools took part in the competition, which also featured a model electric car challenge.

The team now advances to the National Science Bowl coordinated by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Science, which be held in Washington, D.C., from April 26 to 30.
