Commack Named a Best Community for Music Education

School district is recognized by National Association for Music Merchants Foundation.

Commack School District was recently named one of the best communities for music education in the country.

The National Association for Music Merchants Foundation announced the results of its 14th annual Best Communities for Music Education survey on March 18.

The survey acknowledges schools and districts across the nation for their commitment to and support for music education in schools.

This year, Commack School District was designated a “Best Community.” It is the district's fifth honor of its kind. Commack received the honor in 2002, 2008, 2011, and 2012, according to the Foundation. 

According to the music department, Commack High School was also selected by the GRAMMY Foundation as a 2012 GRAMMY Signature School Semi-Finalist. It is the sixth consecutive year that the department was selected as a finalist for the award. Commack was one of three school districts throughout Suffolk County selected as a semi-finalist.
