Commack Residents React to $171 Budget Approval

Twitter, Facebook users share their reactions to news Commack's $171 million school budget has passed, Deborah Guber re-elected to Board of Education.

Within moments of Commack's budget vote results being announced, Commack residents took to social media sites to share their thoughts on the $171 million budget passing.

Facebook and Twitter user's reaction varied from "Oh Thank God" to those who were disappointed with the results.

"Yes!!! & Debbie Guber has won for trustee," comment district resident Catherine Gorey Kurten on Commack Patch's Facebook page.

However, Commack Resident Dawn-Marie Bailey wrote, "Very depressing. I guess everyone in this town is happy with the status quo. With us being held in handcuffs. The trustees spend, spend and spend our money (on high administrative salaries and grossly high contracts) and they continue to lay off teachers and cut student programs. It's disgusting. Again, I can't imagine why you would be happy about it. The Board is doing a terrible job, mismanaging funds and hurting the students. Yet you celebrate."

Scroll through the reactions above from Twitter and Facebook to get a sense of how others are feeling after Tuesday's budget vote.

Nothing ever changes. 20 years ago TAXPAC was reminding everyone about high admin salaries and inflation multiple teacher salary increases (even for the best paid). We're about to lose dozens of teachers due to the overly high pay. In the meantime, seniors and others have to pay excessive taxes instead of food or medicines so they don't lose their homes.

I know exactly what she's about and that's why I'm trying to spread the word. She confronts theRead More lies and the deceit in the Affordable Care Act. And that needs to be brought to the forefront
