Commack School Budget Passes, Masciello and DiGirolamo Win Board Seats

Commack School District residents approved the district’s $183.22 million proposed budget on Tuesday by a vote of 2,220-847. 

The budget includes a 2.14 percent increase in spending over the current year and carries a 1.96 percent tax levy increase, which is within the state's tax cap.

Five candidates ran for two seats on the Commack Board of Education. Incumbent Mary Jo Masciello defeated Dan Fusco by a margin of 1,631-1,264. Janine DiGirolamo (1,191) beat George Marine (999) and Catherine Kurten (751) for the seat being vacated by Peter Wunsch, who did not run for re-election.
