Commack School District to Construct 9-11 Memorial

Memorial will include a piece of steel from the World Trade Center buildings.

The Commack School District is in the process of constructing a Sept. 11 memorial at , which will include a piece of steel from the fallen World Trade center buildings.

The memorial will honor the victims and heroes of 9-11, and will be located in the Heroes Memorial Field at the High School.

Pavers are currently being sold to build a walkway around the memorial. They will be engraved with the names of residents and local non-profits. For every stone purchased, $20 will be donated to the FealGood Foundation and the Twin Towers Orphan Fund. [To order, see attached PDF]

The Commack School District has received a piece of steel from the World Trade Center, and is in the process of constructing a 9-11 Memorial on the grounds of Commack High School.

The names of Commack residents and alumni who perished in the attacks will be engraved on the memorial. While the district currently has the names of four victims, they are searching for any individuals they might not be aware of.
