Commack Students Make Spirits Bright for Local Family

Two elementary school classes 'adopt' a family in the community to make for a special holiday.

Two classes at Commack's Mandracchia Sawmill Intermediate School are adding an extra dose of holiday cheer this season for one local family.

Jennifer Murphy’s third grade class and Tom Zielinski’s fifth grade class regularly visit one another as part of the school's Bully Buddy program, which encourages students to stand up against bullying. To help a Commack family, the classes teamed up to collect toys, clothes, games, and gift cards with the hope of creating a special holiday.

In the photo above, the classes are seen wrapping the gifts for their adopted family.
