Commack Students Raise $1,500 for Typhoon Victims

Sawmill Intermediate students held a pajama fundraiser to help those affected in the Philippines.

Commack students got cozy for a cause during a recent pajama fundraiser to benefit victims of the typhoon devastation in the philippines.

Mandracchia Sawmill Intermediate School students and staff members donated their dollars to wear their pajamas to school.  Those who participated brought in one dollar for every pajama-related item they wore to school.

The more cozy accessories people added to their ensemble, the more money that was raised. In total, the school was able to donate $1,200 to the Red Cross.

Efforts to help the typhoon victims are taking place across the school district. Donations will be collected through the end of January district-wide. All donations are sent to the American Red Cross to help with the relief efforts.
