Any word on if school will be open Monday?

Just got word that school is open Monday & Tuesday, Nov. 5 & 6, BUT NO BUS TRANSPORTATION????? Why????? If buses don't run, school should and MUST be closed - - especially with the gas shortage (how long do they think we will sit on line waiting to drop kids at the high school? Where do we go to get gas when we empty our tanks waiting on line to drop off our 800+ kids?) How are we supposed to arrange to pick up ALL THOSE KIDS and what if there is any reason for emergency pick up? No instruction at all on how any of this should happen, just incipient mayhem. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR THIS TO BE DONE SAFELY and puts our student and driving-parent population at risk. And... How can it be safe to open the elementary schools where the general public is invited in to vote? How do they intend to segregate the public from the student populace of those buildings? NONE OF THIS IS SAFE FOR OUR STUDENTS. KEEP THE SCHOOLS CLOSED UNTIL YOU CAN OPERATE THEM SAFELY. (By the way, Harborfields & South Huntington are among those Districts who wisely and safely are closing Monday & Tuesday.)

You are so right Diane! How about the kids that will be forced to walk because their parents will have to leave for work early in the morning? The roads are terrible, debris everywhere. Once again, NO COMMON SENSE!!!!

Good point, mr. Come one, Northport School District. Rescind this decision. If the buses don't run, the schools MUST REMAIN CLOSED. That emergency drill you run every year? How will that go if schools close without transportation? THIS DECISION CANNOT STAND.
