Photo: Commack Tech Students Win Three Awards

High school students win first place at the 2012 High School Engineering & Technology Showcase Competition at New York Institute of Technology in Old Westbury.

Commack technology students used their innovative design skills to win three awards at the 2012 High School Engineering & Technology Showcase Competition at New York Institute of Technology - Old Westbury Campus in April.

Anthony Bisulco, Ashley Cooper, and Binoy Daniel won a $1,000 first-place award for Excellance in Engineering for their "Autonomous Robot Project," a navigational robot with three modes of operation using sensor technology. 

Scott Eisele, Andrew Fine, Matthew Green, Kimberly Moonsammy took first place with "Jerry Seinfish the Animated Clown Fish," an animated joke-telling fish.

Finally, Commack High School won the Innovation Award thanks to the "Automatic Height Sensor," built by  Daniel Lukach, Mei Sheinbaum, and Matt Smith. The machine displayers your height on an LED readout when you stand underneath the sensor. 

"As a technology teacher I help students apply science and math to create solutions to real problems. These students are quite inventive, and able to go from conceptualizing an invention to building it and testing it in the real world," said their advisor Joseph Castrogivanni.
