UPDATE: Possible Threat at Commack High School Resolved

All outdoor activities were briefly canceled Friday.

Commack School District officials said that the security matter, which led to the brief cancellation of outdoor activities early Friday afternoon, has been resolved. All outside activities have resumed, including after-school sports.

Superintendent Donald James stated the following announcement on the district's website:

"We have been informed by the Suffolk County Police Dept. that the earlier report of a possible threat at Commack High School has been resolved, and there is no cause for alarm. All schools are resuming outside activities, including after-school athletics. Many thanks to our staff and security personnel for their quick response to this matter."

The district has not stated the nature of the possible threat at this time.

All outside activities have been canceled at Commack High School, due to a potential threat, school officials announced early Friday afternoon.

Officials said that the school received information from a student about a possible threat at the school. The district said police are currently at the high school investigating. 

Aside from going outside for recreation, schools and classes are running on their usual schedules, with indoor recreation at this time, the district stated.

The district stated that the measure is a precautionary action and that there is no need for alarm at this time.
