Commack residents elected Peter Wunsch as a Trustee on the Commack Union Free School District Board of Ed on Tuesday with a total of 1,786 votes.
beat out first-time candidate for the board of ed seat left open by the . Mary Jo Masciello, who has served as the board President for the past nine years, ran unopposed.
Voters also passed the and subsequent by a vote of 2680 to 1585.

Wunsch, who previously served as Commack board president for a year, is currently president of the Western Suffolk BOCES Board of Ed. While he will remain on the board next year, he said at a public meeting on Thursday, May 12 that he plans to step down as president.
