SAT Word of the Day: Prosaic

Tips, reference guide and suggestions for the College Board test.

SAT Word of the Day:

Prosaic-(adjective)- dull, boring, ordinary

In context: I hoped the valedictorian's speech would be engaging and original, but it was disappointingly prosaic.

SAT Tip of the Day:

Use the process of elimination. It is often easier to eliminate weak answer choices than to determine the correct answer. If you can eliminate at least two answer choices, it is often worth it to take an educated guess.

This book categorizes vocabulary in groups to make words easier to learn and offers review exercises at the end of each chapter.

Did You Know? You are directed to choose the answer that "best fits" on the critical reading and writing sections of the test. This means that some answers may not be wrong, but because they are not the best answer, they are not the correct choice. This is why the process of elimination is an effective method.
